Conquer Aging
via First-Principles.

BHIAR is an independent nonprofit research institute dedicated to understanding aging from first principles.
We pursue theory-driven science for healthier, longer lives.

Our Research Philosophy

The BHIAR Approach

Advancing aging science through a cycle of theory, prediction, validation, and translation.

  • Theory

Develop first-principles explanations for aging and age-related diseases.

  • Prediction

Generate testable predictions that distinguish competing hypotheses.

  • Validation

Encourage independent experimental evaluation through open scientific inquiry.

  • Translation

Transform validated knowledge into new opportunities for medicine and healthy longevity.

About BHIAR

Aging is the greatest risk factor for most chronic diseases. At BHIAR, we believe that understanding the root causes of aging is the key to transforming medicine and extending lifespan.

Founded by Bilu Huang, originator of the TRCS framework, our institute pursues first-principles research to uncover the fundamental mechanisms of aging and develop new avenues for intervention.

Bilu Huang

Founder & Principal Investigator

Bilu Huang is an independent theoretical researcher and the originator of the TRCS framework.

His work focuses on understanding the fundamental mechanisms of aging and cellular senescence through first-principles inquiry.

Through BHIAR, he seeks to advance scientific dialogue, theoretical innovation, and translational research aimed at healthier human aging.

Our Scientific Framework

TRCS Framework

The TRCS Framework (Telomere DNA and Ribosomal DNA Co-regulation Model for Cell Senescence) guides BHIAR's research into aging biology.

It proposes that aging is essentially a genetic program driven by the shortening of telomeres and/or rDNA arrays via the tumor suppressor protein p53 pathway, rather than the accumulation of molecular damage, providing a first-principles perspective on aging and age-related diseases.
